Grameen Communications, a member of the Grameen family of enterprises, was initiated by Dr. Muhammad Yunus, recipient of the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize in 1997 as a “Not-for-Profit” company. In 1994, Grameen Communications initially started functioning as a Computer Services Unit under Grameen Trust, providing an automated MIS for Grameen Bank.
